Finally Home!
Gretchen
We adopted Gretchen July 8th, 2005. Her name was Buckeye at the time and she is a Golden Retriever/Chow mix. She's only about 40 lbs. so she works perfectly as an apartment dog! Her first year, she slept at my then fiance's place but spent a lot of time at my apartment as well. Her birthday is February 18th, just like mine, and my fiance and I got married July 8th, 2006, the anniversary of her adoption. She loves having both her parents living in the same place!
She's incredibly loving, gets along great with other animals, and just adores all people, though she's still a great guard dog. She thinks she's a lap dog and loves to crawl up on our laps and cuddle. She's the perfect dog for us because she gets excited when we come home and take her on walks, but she's just as happy lounging around and being lazy with us.

Tucker
This past Thanksgiving weekend we came in looking for a new dog. My daughter and I came into the process thinking we'd have to check out many shelters, and tons of dogs. When we came into your shelter that day, we had no idea how lucky we'd get. "Rocky" was about halfway down the cages, and we didn't bother looking any farther. One of your kind volunteers helped us take him out of the cage, and then allowed us into your "get to know each other" room. I'm sure everyone knows the feeling when you know you've found your new family member. We took "Rocky" home about 45 minutes later!
Although we had no qualms with the name Rocky, our puppy was polar opposite of the rough and tumble stereotype. Upon careful consideration, we went with Kentucky, in honor of our home state. So, little Tuck was welcomed into our home.
He has been wonderfully intelligent regarding housebreaking and typical puppy habits, and now behaves almost like a mature dog even though we've only had him for 2 months. The little 17 pounder is now a whopping 35 lbs., and is still growing. Our vet expects him to reach 65. We look forward to many happy years with our new guy, Tuck.
From the bottom of our hearts, thanks CHA.

Mr. Bigg
I came to CHA last summer looking for a companion for my existing cat. I adopted Mr. Bigg from CHA in August 2005. I remember how happy the staff at CHA was when I told them that I was going to adopt Mr. Bigg. Several people hugged me and everyone was very thankful. I liked the name Mr. Bigg so much that I decided to keep it. The name just really seemed to fit him.
I just wanted to let you know that Mr. Bigg is doing well in his new home. About a month after he arrived in my home, he did have some problems with a bladder infection. After about 3 months of intensive antibiotic therapy, the problem seems to be under control. Mr. Bigg is the sweetest cat.
I have grown to love him and he is considered a part of my family. He is still pretty timid, but he is slowly starting to open up and become more comfortable around strangers. He has a brother named Charlie. Mr. Bigg and Charlie definitely keep each other company. They play and chase each other around the house all of the time. Mr. Bigg’s favorite activity is relaxing. Mr. Bigg also loves being brushed and eating cat treats.
I definitely made a good decision when I adopted Mr. Bigg. He now has a home for life.

Lambchop
Hi! You guys may remember me as Rudy. Mom adopted me in November 2004 and, lucky me, she changed my name to Lambchop! Boy, I didn't know that life could be this good! I have my mom and dad that sleep with me every night...they even let me fall asleep while watching TV. I have 2 human sisters (but they are teenagers...ughh!!) and 1 human brother and 2 wonderful kitty sisters...they just LOVE to be chased around the house! They are a bit overweight, so I figure that I'm just helping with their exercise routine. Mom says that I'm the most beautiful 4 legged, fuzzy human that she has ever seen. I've learned that if I act REAL cute, I get all of the doggie treats that you could dream of! Mom takes me everywhere, oh, it gets SO rough being so darned cute! Every few weeks I get to go to grandma & grandpa's cabin at Indian Lake...WOW...there are SO many birds and people to get to know...I hope I live to be 100, so I can get to know all of them!!
I just thought I'd drop you a note to say thanks for keeping me safe for the few weeks that I was there and thanks for giving me my mom!
In puppy love,
Lambchop and his humans...The Gordons

Maddie
We adopted Maddie (formerly Mango) about a month ago, and we love her so much. When she was in the shelter, she had a lot of "energy" (that's the nicest way to put it :-) but we think that she just needed a loving home because she is just the best dog. We will frequently look at each other and just say how great she is.
In this photo we are at the Westerville Bark Park, probably her favorite place in the world. She is always a fan favorite at the park, and everyone always wants to know who the "cute little black dog" is. She is perfectly content to cuddle or run and play fetch. We're working on some tricks, and she has mastered "sit." She is very smart; she taught herself how to do some of the agility things at the park. I think there are great things to come for our little puppy! We are just so glad that Maddie is a member of our family now!

Zoe
We adopted Zoe (formerly Santana) in July of 2004. She was four months old and had all the typical puppy habits. She has since grown to a healthy 38 pounds of pure energy. She keeps us very busy,we wouldn't have it any other way. She is a complete joy. We love her very much and thank you for bringing her into our lives.
