Adoptable Pet of the Month – Blaze

Meet Blaze! This handsome boy with stunning eyes is looking for a brand new home of his own. He is a 3-year-old mixed breed who weighs 56 lbs. Blaze has lots of energy, and loves to go on walks. He would be the perfect adventure companion. His favorite game is fetch, and he would chase his tennis ball all day if he could. Blaze is also very smart and picks up on things quickly. He knows “sit” and appears to be house-trained!

Blaze arrived at CHA when his owner could no longer care for him. He was underweight when he arrived and showed signs of food guarding. After a few weeks, once he had a chance to gain some weight, he was tested for food guarding again. During that assessment, he did not display significant guarding behaviors! Due to this history, we still recommend that Blaze go to a home with more mature children who are old enough to understand that he may not be comfortable being disturbed while eating food or treats.

Although Blaze is 3 years old, he still likes to act like a big puppy! When he gets excited, he can become ill-mannered. He would do best with an adopter who is willing to work on positive reinforcement training with him so he can learn he doesn’t have to jump up on people to show them that he loves them! If you’re looking for a loyal, independent, affectionate companion, Blaze could be your dog!
